Re-Vamping The Mods By Category Area

Hey guys,

This is just a quick update that I’m renovating the Mods By Category area here on the website. In a nutshell I’m just cleaning up the layout so the appearance looks more uniform and functionally just a tad bit easier to use.

It’s honestly been driving me crazy for awhile but with only a very limited education in HTML, let alone website building, knowledge, I’m sort of winging this all as I go. At least for the moment that is. One day when I feel like I have enough content, I’ll pay someone to setup a way better design. In the mean time, this is what I have.

That being said, I’m also taking the time to update categories themselves and expand on certain areas. For example, I’ve moved the pet categories to be underneath the animal category as I figure with one you’ll look for the other. Another is that I’m trying to figure out how to downsize the hygiene and water mods to other areas. Most mods were bathroom related so I just migrated those to there. Others felt like should have it’s own Sloppy Personality area while I didn’t realize there were so many mods concerning hot tubs. I hope to have both of those areas more organized by the end of the week. I also plan on reworking the Open For Business area- expanding those mods and also the Health, Illness and Sickness Mods.

I’m also happy to announce that there are over 1,000k mods under Mods By Creator area! *clap clap cheer cheer* They are not yet all moved over but once I finish fiddling with the categories in a way that I’m satisfied with, I plan on making sure all the mods I have by Creator are properly moved over to those Category pages. Then after that, my plan is to go over each individual page layout on the Mods by Category and give the page itself a refresh so each page is properly talks more in depth what it’s for and properly links to other related mods.

What do I mean by that?

Take for example the Stereo Mods Page- On each page there are all the mods for all of the electronics on the top and bottom but- a missed opportunity to be reminded you might want some music & dance mods as well.

I’ve missed a lot of pages with these little block updates that say what the mod does and a lot of the pages need to be updated with further categories added into them.

This is just random behind the scenes work that I’ll be working on. I often don’t know how to say the three or four pages that I added that week or feel like it’s necessarily news worthy. Sometimes all I get done are adding a hundred mods scattered across lots of different areas and I wonder, “meh is that worth writing a whole blog post on?” I mean if it is, please let me know here. I’ve also retracted a mod request area since upon releasing it I was informed it was already done. It didn’t really feel like this site gets enough traction for a retraction but I do want to thank those let me know and that I do appreciate it.

I received a very kind comment via Twitter tonight appreciating everything that’s going on which is why I wanted to reach out tonight and talk about what’s going on. I hope to try better to let everyone know what’s going on and to get an exact count where we are mod count level wise. This website is still very much in the old mods phase still. I’ve barely touched the surface with active modders who are still releasing new content, and believe me they still very much are! At some point I want to design two areas for the mods page: the mods request area and a list of active modders in the community

Anyway, that’s all that I have for you guys tonight. Stay safe and well.

Sincerely,

SarahSmiles
