Chance Card Mods

1.) Random Chance Cards by Cyjon

All chance card choices have a flat 50% chance of being right. If a sim has the hunch benefit from FT either answer has an 80% chance of being right. Under the standard system, each card has basically a “right” answer that has a high chance of giving a positive result. Once you know the right answers it substantially reduces the randomness of chance cards. This mod is intended to restore that randomness making sims’ lives less predictable. This mod also removes the 1% chance that BOTH answers will give negative results.

2.) Fewer Chance Cards by Cyjon

Prevents sims from getting chance cards any time they have at least a 75% chance of promotion. They must not only have good job performance but must also be eligible for promotion.

3.) Random chance fix by Dickurt

There is code in Nightlife and all higher Expansion/Stuff packs which determines random chances. Many areas of the game make use of it, mostly to allow things to happen randomly (based on a percent). Will a townie walkby? Will drinking that special juice give you an extra skill point? And so on.
In FreeTime and all games released after it, Maxis changed that code and it now calculates the chance incorrectly. Something that should only occur 50% of the time, will now occur 66% of the time. An event that should only take place one-third of the time (33%), will now occur one-half of the time (50%). While it may be hard to notice such things during actual gameplay, the glitch still deserves to be fixed because it is making the game behave improperly.

4.) Random Chance Card Decisions ver 2 by Dizzy2

The way Chance Cards work is simple. You can choose one of two decisions, or decide to not make a decision. The first two selections are always the two decisions and the third selection is normally “Ignore” (which would normally just not give any result).

When you select one decision or another, the game then randomly selects a good or bad outcome (the wording and exact results of the outcome depend on which decision you make).

5.) Architecture Chance Card Fix by Kestrellyn

Due to some EA sloppiness, one of the bad results from the level 7 Architecture career chance card deducts 985,000 Simoleons from family funds instead of just 985. This hack fixes it so that it only deducts 1,000 (it’s not actually possible to lose or gain an amount of money that isn’t a multiple of 1,000 from any chance card for career levels 7+).

6.) Hobby Chance Card Promotion Fix by Lenna9

In the unmodified game, when a Sim is promoted due to a hobby chance card while already at career level 10, the game throws an error and resets the Sim. This has been fixed, now Sims cannot get promoted if they are already at the top of the career.

7.) Hobby Chance Cards Fixes by Lenna9

Unfortunately, hobby chance cards in the unmodified game are broken as hell. In many cases, the result you get is something completely different from what the card says. For example, a card might say your Sim gains hobby enthusiasm but actually grants a promotion.
