Text Replacer & Hidden Stats Mods

This is a place to find mods that the only game feature they replace is text. This can include grammar, language translations, etc.

1.) Names by BoilingOil

A replacement names-list (live.package) so your townies aren’t stuck with the silly, boring, repetitive Maxis names. Contains 1150 male first names, 1477 female first names, and 1844 last names (identical for males and females). This makes for a total of over 2.1 mln combinations for males, and over 2.7 mln for females.

2.) Last Name Copier 0807070 by Christianlov

LastNameCopier is a simple tool object with which you can copy surname between sims easily.

3.) Sim Cloner 080706 by Christianlov

Sim Cloner is an item with which you can clone an existing sim. Buy the sculpture from the General category and then click “Clone Me” or something like that in English menu. You can also clone a neighbor.

4.) Show Hidden Skills and Stats with Bonsai of Wisdom by CtfG

Shows all available skills for a Sim that are behind the scenes as hidden. These skills are dancing, homework, meditate, painting, pool, romance, writing, gender preference, age days left, job promotion level, and school grades

5.) SimSpy shows Aspiration, NPC flag, Family number and Chemistry by CtfG

A mod that displays other Sim’s aspiration, chemistry, family number and more.

6.) Job Typo Fixes by Cyjon

Fixes typos in the job titles. IE: There is no such word as “restauranteur” in any language that I know of. The correct term is “restaurateur”.

7.) Longer Names/Titles/Descriptions by Lenna9

This mod is not a single file but a collection of separate modules:

– Longer Names: increases Sims’ and pets’ first and last name limits to 80 characters instead of 18.
– Longer Lot Titles: increases lot title limits to 80 characters instead of 30.
– Longer Neighborhood Names: increases neighborhood name limits to 80 characters instead of 30.
– Longer Craftable Descriptions: increases craftable item descriptions to 1300 characters instead of 575.
– Longer Novel Descriptions: this is an extended version of the Longer Novel Titles mod. It includes the changes introduced by that mod, and also increases the character limit in novel descriptions to 1300 characters instead of 575.

8.) New Polish Names by Lenna9

This mod contains 316 male names, 311 female names and 1561 (!) last names.

9.) Polish Translation Fixes by Lenna9

This mod is a fix for Polish translation of The Sims 2.

10.) Altered default NPC and townie names by Jordi

This file changes the default list of names for townies and NPCs. It is mainly based on US Census data. It is enabled for both US and UK English (the lists are identical). Note that if you start a new neighbourhood, you will still get all the ‘Goopy Gilscarbo’ etc. names: this is because TS2 imports those names from the default neighbourhood always. To get around this, use the instructions given here to create a 100% clean neighbourhood.

11.) Memory text mod — better text for the undead scholarship and public woohoo by Jordi

This mod changes the text for two memories. The undead scholarship memory now has a new text which is also suitable for vampires. The public woohoo memory now no longer refers to trying on clothes, as you can also get this memory from public woohooing in elevators or photo booths. Additionally there is a modified text for the lifetime want to have 50 first dates: females used to only get “dates, yay!”. Now they get the full text males get.

12.) More standard Pet names by Jordi

This file changes the default list of names for pets and strays. There are over a thousand names for both male and female Pets, hopefully this will avoid some of the repetition of names.

13.) Throw Party menu fix for UK English players by Jordi

Ever since Pets, anyone who has either Holiday Pack or Edition (both the 2005 and 2006) ones, and is playing in UK English (the 24-hour clock), has two “Throw Party” menus on the phones: One for all standard parties, and one for the “New Year’s Bash”. The cause is a typo in the Party Pack override package: EA used the ellipsis character “…” instead of three dots: “…”. By placing the attached mod in your game this error is corrected, and you will only have one “Throw Party” menu again.

14.) User Interface mod: UK English corrections (up to Pets only) by Jordi

This mod changes several US English spellings to UK English forms, such as neighborhood -> neighbourhood.

15.) AL Mysterious Bookcase Name Fix by Menaceman44

In the catalogue of Apartment Life the ‘Mysterious Looking Bookcase’ is incorrectly labeled as a ‘Mysterous’ bookcase. This file simply alters the text to correctly read ‘Mysterious’.

16.) BFF Memory Text Fix by Menaceman44

Changes the text in memories made for best friends forever to simply, the very first BFF will have text that reads “Made first BFF” and all other BFF’s after to just “Made a BFF”

17.) Corrected Education Chance Card Text by Menaceman44

Fixes all the typos in the Educational Career Chance Cards

18.) Dean’s List Memory Grammar Fix by Menaceman44

This package fixes a grammar mistake in the “Made Dean’s List” University memory. Instead of reading “What a achievement…” it will now correctly read “What an achievement…”.

19.) Dutch Spellbook Correction by Menaceman44

As with the UK Spellbook Fix mod, this package will correct the wrongly formatted spellbook text in the Dutch version of the game.

20.) General Practioner? Job Title Fix by Menaceman44

Changes the career text from General Practioner to General Practitioner.

21.) Energy Consumption Text Fix by Menaceman44

No longer must you cringe each time you are notified that your Sims’ energy production has outweighed their CUNSUMPTION. With this file the notification will correctly use the word CONSUMPTION.

22.) Learned Teleport Text Correction by Menaceman44

Changes the text when you learn to teleport from “You have the learned the secret technique of teleportation.” To “You have now learned the secret technique of teleportation.”

23.) Multi Language Network Messages Fix by Menaceman44

With the new AL networking messages the Sim talking to you references HIS OWN name instead of that belonging to the Sim he is talking to. EA said they fixed this in the patch. If you have an English US installation then you’re fine. Any other language, including UK, and they seemed to ignore the mistake. The languages altered are: French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Russian, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Czech, Hungarian & Brazilian Portuguese.

24.) Negative Witch Skill Symbol Replacement by Menaceman44

Replaces the negative symbols that appear over a Sims head when realigning to red. The evil symbol has been changed as well.

25.) Nukem Reggae Wall Speaker Catalogue Correction by Menaceman44

This little fix is so that the Reggae community speaker is now listed as such and not the “Bubblegum Sugar” Pop speaker instead. The text is in the game files but just doesn’t seem to show up.

28.) UK Installation Spellbook Fix by Menaceman44

If you run a UK installation of Apartment Life then you may have noticed that the rhymes within the spellbook are not formatted correctly. Instead they just sprawl across the page. This package will replace the text in the spellbook so that it now displays with the correct formatting. No more poorly crafted spellbooks for you!
