8.) Wake up apartment neighbors fix by Dickhurt
There is a little problem in the game code. After your neighbors go to sleep, they technically never wake up. Yes they do appear to be awake. They leave their apartment, go to work, answer the door when you knock (if they’re in the mood), and so on. But the game code still leaves them classified as being asleep. Many hacks which check to see if Sims are awake on the lot will fail for Apartment Neighbors because they’re considered to be sleeping all day long. This hack fixes the glitch. No it doesn’t forcible wake them up and make them leave their apartments. It just fixes a data value that was classifying them as always being asleep.
9.) Apartment Moveout Finance Fixer by Kestrellyn
Apartment Life introduced an annoying new problem – when your sims moved out of an apartment, they got a lot of free money, presumably because the game is doing something silly like selling off all the furniture in the apartment when they move out, which doesn’t make sense since that furniture in most cases wasn’t actually paid for by them and thus isn’t theirs to sell. Pescado “fixed” this in his apthack by making your sims pay for all that furniture when they moved into the apartment in the first place. But there are several problems with this fix: 1) it makes it prohibitively expensive to move into an apartment, which sort of defeats the purpose of apartments, 2) if you don’t depreciate everything in the apartment before moving in, you will lose a lot of money, and 3) even if you do depreciate everything in the apartment before you move in, you still lose money because it turns out Pescado miscalculated how much the apartment deposit should be.
With this object installed, when you move out of an apartment, do the following:
– Before moving out, purchase the Apartment Moveout Family Fund Fixer, which costs 0 simoleons, looks like the cute alien poster from Apartment Life and is available from Misc/Misc or from Decorative/Misc.
– Select the “Prepare for moveout” option, which should show you your current family funds. Afterwards it will be disabled and read “Saved family funds” instead. Take note of what this amount is; that is the actual amount of money your sims have to spend on their new house or apartment.
– Move out of the apartment. Your sims will gain a bunch of free money.
– Move into a new house or apartment that costs less than the amount you saved with the family fund fixer.
– Place the family fund fixer again, and select “Restore family funds”, which will set your family funds back to what they should be. This option will show you the amount that it will set your family funds to, which should be the amount you saved, minus the cost of the lot (if you moved into a house) or the rent (if you moved into an apartment). If you spent more than the amount you saved, the option will be disabled and will read “Restore family funds: Negative amount” instead (meaning that if it were to show you the amount, it would be negative, but I don’t actually trust the game to properly display potentially large negative numbers). If you are in a house, you can place mortgage shrubs from SimLogical until the lot is cheap enough that the option is enabled. Or you can just place them before buying the house, as you would normally.
10.) Autonomous Have Meal fix for Apartment Life by Kestrellyn
In an attempt to make it so that sims wouldn’t autonomously have a single-serving meal from their apartment neighbors’ refrigerators, EA accidentally made it so that sims wouldn’t autonomously have a single-serving meal from any refrigerator that wasn’t in an apartment. This hack fixes it so that sims can once again autonomously make single-serving meals from non-apartment refrigerators.
11.) Halved Apartment Rent by Kestrellyn
Reduces the amount of rent a Sim would own into half.
12.) No or reduced apthack apartment deposit by Kestrellyn
This hack reduces the apartment deposit in Pescado’s apthack. noaptdeposit reduces the “rent unfurnished” deposit to 0 and the “rent furnished” deposit to 1 (so you can still tell which option is which). halvedaptdeposit reduces both deposits by half. Only install one version. mixedaptdeposit reduces the “rent unfurnished” deposit to 0 and the “rent furnished” deposit by half.
13.) Composting In Apartments Fix by Lenna9
Landlords (and other Sims) while gardening and cleaning will no longer try to throw trash into the compost bin located in your or another Sim’s apartment, which they cannot reach because they don’t live there. This previously resulted in trash being thrown all around on the ground in front of the apartment door. Now Sims can only use a compost bin located in their own apartment or in a common area. If you visit another Sim’s apartment, you can use the compost bin located there, but only then.
14.) No Apartment Noises by Marhis
This mod eliminates the issue completely, everywhere and forever (er… until you take it out your downloads folder).
15.) Apartment Residents Mod by Midge The Tree
With this mod in place if the game fails to find a suitable resident in the chosen family it’ll default to looking among townies and, if there are no suitable townies left, not generate a resident for that apartment.
16.) Kick Out Multiple Roommates by Midge The Tree
If you use Squinge’s multiple roommates, this mod will make it so any Sim who is not selectable will be able to move out when you tell them to scram.

A slightly experimental mod that’ll factor in multiple roommates when calculating rent.
18.) Apartments and Shopping, on the same Lot! by MogHughson
You can now build a combo-lot, one that is residential (specifically apartments) but with a community lot flavor too. The lot will be an apartment lot when you make it, not a community lot, so you cannot send Sims to it like a community lot. This mod will spawn the required NPCs for objects, for example, a Clerk to manage a cash register. This mod does not spawn additional visitors, as with your neighbors, the landlord/lady and walk-bys there will be quite enough people on the lot as it is.

19.) Fixed Maxis Bug: Apartment Lots … any incoming calls? by MogHughson
Fixes a bug that comes with AL that fails all incoming calls to apartments. So, if you’ve noticed that you don’t get incoming calls to your Apartment lots, if you turn on boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true, and you get a pop-up window notifying you of an error on an incoming call type object, then you have this problem.
20.) Apartment Hack for AL by Pescado
A – Neighbor behavior in apartments now depends on furniture installed inside their apartments and common area: Motives restored on going into apartments depends on what furniture that the neighbors have in there, and neighbors leaving their apartment will do so to resolve motives based on things located in the common area.
B – Neighbors will not suddenly run off for no reason while you are trying to
interact with them.
C – Neighbors will not emerge and stand around for hours with nothing to do.
D – Rent-payer hour moved to hour that is non-suicidal for vampire tenants.
E – Cash exploit for fixtures removed: You can no longer receive free cash
merely for moving into an apartment and then moving out because you are not charged for the value of fixtures, but are still credited for them on move
out: Sims must pay an initial deposit equal to the sell value of fixtures in their apartment, which is returned via the normal move-out process.
F – Option to rent furnished integrated with above: Door will display two
rental prices, the higher deposit value being the furnished price.
G – Going to work/on errands no longer magically restores neighbors. Work motive drain is equivalent to the normal drain for their particular job and level. Errands will still restore typical motives, much like your own sims can go and green on community lots (Gain Hunger/Soc/Fun/etc., energy not so much).
H – Apartments made functional in universities: YAs can now rent apartments and generated NPC apartment neighbors will spawn as YAs and go to class.
I – Fixed bug where sims were going home into the wrong apartments.

or if swarm of resulting Zergs exceeds legal visitor max (major lag!).

This helps fix a myriad of issues with Sims in apartments. This is a group of fixes specifically designed to make non-playable and not-in-play neighbors in an Apartment lot behave more logically.
IE:
– Neighbors unnecessarily going in and out of their apartments
– Neighbors given suitable bedtimes set based off how lazy/active they are.
– Fixed Roommates to properly use facilities of the apartment including a bed. Going to work or errands will not refresh their needs with the exception of hunger.
The indicator pictures
By using the wall pictures below in any combination, you can indicate to the not-in-play neighbors that they need to come out to satisfy certain motives, that they cannot find these facilities in their own rooms, cells or apartments. The “nothing” indicator also tells the landlord not to bother having a Saturday party. You may prefer to add this picture only to your playable apartment rather than the communal areas, because then you can delete it easily if you change your mind about how sociable you want to be.
