Life and Death Mods

1.) Funeral Project – eulogy lectern by Cathair2005

Allow the user to make a Eulogy. The response depends on various things such as the speaker’s sensitivity (how much they like the deceased and their charisma) and the listener’s feelings towards the dead. They may laugh, cry or boo so watch out.

2.) Deadly Satellites by Cyjon

Increases the chance of satellite death. Under normal circumstances the game checks for death by satellite only once when a sim watches clouds or stargazes. If the sim survives this first check, there is no further danger. This mod checks for satellite death every batch of 5-24 animation cycles, or roughly once every 30 game minutes. It uses the same 1% chance so that means it takes an average of 50 hours of cloud watching to get nailed by a satellite, but at least it’s possible to force a satellite death should you wish to for story or general sadism purposes.

3.) Electrocution Fix by Cyjon

Fixes motive check errors in determining death by electrocution, and correctly accounts for servo and plantsim motives. The bugged game code checked Comfort and Energy multiple times rather than also checking the other four motives drained (Hygiene, Bladder, Comfort and Fun). The sim will die if any two of these motives drop below -90. For servos & plant sims, under this fix electrocution will drain Social for these two types of sims (but not other sims), and will drain Sunshine for plantsims. These sims will die if any one of their three motives drop below -90. Note that using this mod makes the world a bit more dangerous for servos and plantsims since they had previously been immune to electrocution death due to a lack of Comfort or Energy motives (the servo Power motive is not the same as Energy).

4.) Grim Multi-Reaping Fix by Cyjon

Fixes an obscure and non-critical bug with the Grim Reaper. If two or more people die simultaneously and any sim after the first one reaped has low aspiration, then Grim loses track of his scythe, throws an error and disappears. How non-critical is this bug? The game simply resummons him and he finishes the job so you won’t even realize there is anything wrong unless you play in debug mode and have to click the reset button. Still, a bug is a bug.

5.) No Auto Urn Cleanup by Cyjon

Prevents sims from cleaning up urns autonomously. Cleaning up smashed urns is like deleting tombstones — a big no-no that can lead to neighborhood corruption. This mod prevents sims from doing so automatically, though you can still direct them to if you want to break your hood. Note that macrotastics “Macro/Clean” might still push the clean command.

6.) No Life Insurance by Cyjon

No money will be paid out when sims die of old age.

7.) Resurrect-O-Nomitron Mark 2 by Cyjon

This object is a version of the Resurrect-O-Nomitron available in the Buy catalog for the bargain price of 10,000 simoleons. The old Resurrect-O-Nomitron is still available as a Paranormal reward. There are now two versions of this mod. -MaxisPersonality uses the old Maxis method of determining zombie personality. -CyjonPersonality uses the personality changes in the Zombie Personality mod. Install one or the other but not both. The Resurrect-O-Nomitron Mark 2 allows any sim to resurrect a sim normally, as a zombie, or as a vampire. There is no cost for the service. Target selection has been changed so that the tombstone must be on the lot, but the calling sim doesn’t have to know the victim. Although it can be used in normal play, it is designed to be used by a cemetery keeper who controls the fate of the dead. He doesn’t have to know them and doesn’t have to pay for them.

8.) Seated Aging Fix by Cyjon

Sims can no longer avoid death by sitting in a chair. The game refuses to automatically age up people who are sitting or lying down. This is most obvious when sims are supposed to die of old age. Grim won’t come until the sim is standing. This means that technically sims can live forever by simply never getting out of a chair.

9.) No inheritance after elder dies by Dickhurt

Prevents the inheritance money from being paid to the friends and/or family of a deceased elder. When the elder dies, money materializes from nowhere to pay all of that Sim’s friends/family. You might think it is life insurance money, but then again, you never pay into life insurance anyway. It is just free money that appears out of nowhere making the game way too easy. And no it is not a portion of the elder’s funds (earned money) nor the value of their estate.

10.) Customizable chance of Death by Murphy Bed by Gummilutt

The way it’s coded by EA, Murphy beds have a 5% chance when opened to fall on the Sim and kill them. This only happens if the Sim has less than 5 body points, the Sim is in a bad mood when opening the bed and the random roll produces the right number. Which makes for a very frustrating trial and error if you for some reason want to induce Murphy bed death, or if you would just like it to happen now and then on it’s own.

This is a global mod that alters the chance of death by Murphy bed, and gives you the option of disabling the body skill and mood checks.

11.) Customizable chance of Death by Satellite by Gummilutt

This is a global mod that increases the chance of death by satellite while watching clouds or stargazing. I have included three versions, with 5%, 50% and 100% chance of satellite hits. Only use one.

12.) Kill Visiting Playables by Kestrellyn

For some reason, EA removed the ability to kill unselectable visiting playables after Seasons. They also neglected to add the BV townies to the list of people who could be killed, so you can’t kill them either. This mod makes it so that you can kill the BV townies, and also unselectable visiting playables unless their family was last saved on an owned community lot (this restriction predates Seasons, so I’m sure there’s probably a good reason for it). The only sims left who can’t be killed should just be the untouchable NPCs and the Hobby Mavens

13.) Death Memory Fix by Lenna9

Maxis’ intented that when a Sim dies, Sims who witnessed it should get a memory about it. However, this doesn’t happen due to an oversight in the code. This has been fixed, now both Sims who were relatives of the deceased Sim and Sims who only witnessed the death receive memories.

14.) Death Of Sim Want Fix by Lenna9

Sims can’t roll a fear about the death of toddlers or babies as they can’t die.

15.) Inheritance Fix by Lenna9

There is an oversight in how inheritances are calculated. Maxis’ intended the amount to be based on five types of relationships between the deceased and the heir: spouse, child, grandchild, love relationship and friend. But the code doesn’t actually check the love flag; instead, it counts all relationships with the LTR above 75 as love rel. With this fix, both 75+ LTR and a love flag are required for a love relationship.

16.) No Age Reset After Resurrection by Lenna9

When a Sim is resurrected, their age will no longer be reset to the beginning of the age group, except if the Sim is an elder.

17.) The Urnstone Spawner by Mike1102

Spawn headstones of dead sims whose person data still exist, even if the original headstones still exist. You can choose the type (“moderate” or “gold”), the death type (with which different ghost colour, interactions and behaviors are associated) and the aspiration (which is only relevant if the urnstone type is gold). The spawner is found in the miscellaneous/miscellaneous section of the buy catalog. Use with caution/back up your game first.

Sims who die of old age now properly receive their tombstones and give out their inheritances even in severely overcrowded neighborhoods with some 900 Sims living and long dead.

19.) Marriage-Post Mortem by Pescado

The marriage “spouse” line is no longer automatically disconnected after death. The surviving partner may remarry as usual, which will correctly connect the line to the new partner and disconnect the old one, but unless the survivor remarries, when he dies, their marriage line will still show as connected on the family tree, like those of the deceased Maxian families.

This mod allows you to have your sims kick any sims tombstone even if they like that sim.
