Cleaner Gameplay Mods

Cleaner Gameplay mods have three main functions:

1 – The first is to help “clean up” certain internal processes that can disrupt game play. Sims 2 is known for being especially glitchy and these mods help resolve challenges related to bugs. You’ll find mods that help with these on this page.
2 – The second function of cleaner gameplay mods are visual esthetics such as hiding tree’s, ceiling lamps and columns from view. The game just looks cleaner.
3 – Fixing

1.) No Sim Loaded by BoilingOil

Removes tokens that add something called “bloat” in your game. Helps make the game run smoother and quicker.

2.) Clean Neighborhoods by Cyjon

These are copies of Riverblossom Hills (from Seasons) and Desiderata Valley (from FreeTime) that have been cleaned of excess characters. They include only the playable sims with no townies or NPCs. Installation instructions are included in each zip.

3.) Cyjon’s Debugger by Cyjon

A general purpose object, meant to compliment items like Pescado’s batbox. Can be found in Buy Mode under Miscellaneous/Miscellaneous as the pizza box.

4.) Lot Inspector by Cyjon

The Lot Inspector is Prof. von Ball, the volleyball used by crazy Knowledge sims, and can be found in buy mode under Miscellaneous/Miscellaneous. To use it simply click on it in the catalog and a report will be issued. You don’t even have to place it on the lot. This allows it to be used on vacant lots so you can check them out before deletion. Fixing problems usually requires a sim to be present, so it is best to use it before a family moves out. Prof. Von Ball reports on the following problems:
Urnstones (meaning urns and tombstones) – Deleting lots with urnstones on them means deleting sims, and deleting sims is a Very Bad Thing that will destroy your neighborhood. You will need to move the urnstones off the lots either in a sim’s inventory or by clicking on the urnstone and moving it to a community lot. If you are using base game or University only, you have no way of moving urnstones off lots so you can’t safely delete these lots.
Offworld Loiterers – Sims are sometimes generated invisibly on your lot. For example when you call a sim, that sim is actually created but not put into the world, and then removed when the call is over. Sometimes offworld sims get stuck and not removed correctly. Use the batbox (ffsdebugger from MATY) to “Nuke…/Offworld Loiterers.”
Owned Businesses – Sell any sim-owned businesses before deleting the lot.
Loan Jar – If a loan jar with a positive balance is found you will be warned. This is not a dangerous issue and the lot can still be deleted safely. If you do so then the loan, but not the money, will disappear. This may not be a bad thing.

5.) Memory Fixes by Cyjon

Fixes bugs with several sim memories. The memories and associated gossip fixed are:
– Lifetime Want – Marry Off X Children
– Lifetime Want – Have X Grandchildren
– Lifetime Want – Have X Best Friends
– Have Great/Lousy Anniversary Party
This won’t fix existing memories, only new ones generated after you install the mod. Mootilda’s HoodChecker may be able to fix existing errors.

6.) Clean And Empty Neighborhood Templates by Jawusa

You can also use these neighborhood templates to create clean custom neighborhoods with no Townies/NPCs or if you want to play in EA’s neighborhoods, but without the playables.

7.) Clean And Empty Stealth Hood Templates by Jawusa

Do you want to get rid of those Maxis families which always appear in your neighborhood’s bin? These stealth hoods don’t contain any annoying universal families and NPCs…

8.) Empty Pets template — No more strays, Critturs and Cyd Roseland in new ‘hoods by Jordi

This replacement package for the Pets template has been stripped of all Sims and Pets. This means that next time you create a new neighbourhood, you will not get the Critturs and Cyd Roseland in your Sim bin, and will also not get the 60+ default strays. Instead, the game will generate random strays as it needs them.

9.) Empty Seasons template — No additional Simbin families, townies, and NPCs by Jordi

This replacement package for the stealth Seasons template has been stripped of all Sims. This means that next time you create a new neighborhood, you will not get the two families in your Sim bin, and will also not get the same new townies and NPCs. Instead, the game will generate random townies or NPCs as it needs them.

10.) Token Destroyer by Lenna9

This mod is a tool that allows you to destroy all PMT tokens in the hood. This operation is not necessary, but you can do it if you want a cleaner neighborhood. It looks like a flower, which you can find in the General/Miscellaneous section.

11.) No Corrupt Death by Pescado

Apartment Life ll Free Time ll Bon Voyage ll Seasons ll Pets ll OFB ll Nightlife

The formation of the corrupted death memory, as seen in gossip of the form
“jagged lines”, “tombstone”, “dead Sim”, is now suppressed. Existing corrupted death memory markers not affected, and will continue to spread unless eliminated in SimPE. You can usually identify corrupted death markers, because one will follow every directly-experienced death of visitor or family member, and is flagged “invisible”, with no event owner. It will spread to other Sims in gossip, and all memories of this form (no event owner, $Subject Died, Dead Sim), are corrupted “jagged line” memories. Delete these whenever they show up in gossip, noting which sim possesses them, and which sim received it. Find the corrupted memory in both Sims and expunge it from anyone you can find.
